Prayer Requests - Pre-field Ministry Updates

Many of you have been watching the news lately about Haiti because its political situation has gone from bad to worse for the past two years or so. Murder has been rampant, kidnapping has arisen in all major cities and villages, corruption has prevailed everywhere, even among the political leaders, while the country’s economic situation keeps declining.

This situation has had negative consequences on the country on every level imaginable. Sociologically, many educated young men and women massively migrate to the Dominican Republic, Chile, and Brazil, leaving the country with fewer human resources. Religiously, some seek protection and power from Voodoo instead of trusting God, our protector and provider. Economically, as poverty increases exponentially, integrity decreases, leading many to join armed groups and commit crimes against the population.

This socio-political chaos and anarchy eventually led to the assassination of our Haitian president this morning by an unidentified armed group, leaving the country with no real sense of direction.

As we continue to monitor the situation, we humbly ask that you pray for the president’s family. More importantly, however, pray for the time in which God will openly intervene in the nation’s affairs to judge the wicked, remove lawlessness and social injustice, and deliver the righteous. We certainly appreciate your fervent prayers during this unprecedented time in Haiti’s life and look forward to the day when we can cross the Dominican Republic's border to minister to our people, as we have done in the past.

May God have mercy on Haiti and restore it for His glory!
